When we decided to make the leap from a one day convention to a three day convention, we were quite nervous. Was the leap too large? Could we overcome all of the logistics involved? Hundreds of doubts lumbered around our heads. But we never questioned our resolve. And what do you know? GameCon Memphis 2009 was a huge success! We owe that success to our outstanding volunteers and the many wonderful people who traveled from across the country to attend!

If you didn't get a chance to attend you missed out on our huge game library in the ballroom, over 300 board games stacked on numerous shelves is something that you have to see to believe. And then there was the massive wall of RPG signups dominating one corner of the ballroom. Finally, across the hall we had even more gaming goodness with LARPs, tournaments, and the Chicago Toy and Games Fair / Rio Grande Games design contest!

We had over six thousand square feet of gaming this year. And that's not counting the free snacks and drinks in our con suite, the panels, and the amazing dealer’s room. And we are planning for even more fun next year!

I'd like to take this time to congratulate our tournament winners:

Settlers of Catan: Jessie Kovank, he took home the Settlers of Catan 3D 10th Anniversary Limited Edition set donated by Midsouth Game Center
Dominion: Michael Bowman, he took home Dominion: Intrigue donated by Gamerz Depot
Munchkin: Joe Dziuba, he took home Munchkin Fu donated by Steve Jackson Games
Munchkin Quest: Stan Plummer, he took home a copy of Munchkin Quest donated by Steve Jackson Games
Flames of War: Troy Fuller (singles & doubles) and Bryan Koches (doubles), they each took home gift certificates to Gamerz Depot.

Also, congratulations to Diego Rich and his co-designers on winning our qualifier for the Chicago Toy and Game Fair / Rio Grande Games Design Contest with their game Mob Ties. He is on his way to Chicago to pitch the game to Jay Tummelson of Rio Grande Games with a chance to get published! We wish him the best of luck and we hope to be playing Mob Ties again next year at the convention.

A special thanks goes out to our sponsors. Gamerz Depot was once again our Platinum sponsor; our Gold sponsors were HobbyTown, Kenzer & Co, DragonChess, and Steve Jackson Games; our Silver sponsors were Adams Business Center, Bella Muse Studios, and Rio Grande Games; our Settlers of Catan tournament prize sponsor was Midsouth Game Center.
